Reporting to the Board of Directors the role includes the development, implementation and monitoring of all business and safety management systems.

Key Deliverables

• To provide support and advice to all levels of the business and other key stakeholders through the development, implementation and reinforcement of robust safety management procedures.
• Manage and undertake auditing and monitoring of both our on-site and head office activities
• Establish competence levels and undertake training needs analysis
• Provide a safe working environment for our staff, our clients and those who are potentially affected by our works

Deliver the strategic development of Health and Safety best practice for Silverdell Plc and 3 trading subsidiaries: Silverdell (UK) Ltd, Kitsons Environmental Europe Ltd and Redhill’s.

Principle roles include:
Reporting to the Board of each company, the role manages embracing a culture of best practice through compliance of all current regulations and legislation achieving 2 RoSPA Gold Awards and RoSPA Behavioural Best Practice Award.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Directly managed a team of 12 Safety personnel. Ensured safe working procedures on site for 700 personnel on both large and scale works. Group turnover of £62M; working within the Construction, Environmental, and Rail, Public sector, Defence and Nuclear markets. Under my leadership, OHSAS 18001 and ISO14001 accreditations were achieved and subsequently managed.

Safety culture has been improved through developing awareness, introducing new technology (visual method statements and CCTV) and safety committees.

Instigated active liaison with licensing and enforcement authorities, trade bodies (UKATA and ARCA), and governing bodies corporately. The development of supply chain and compliance training through the innovative Silverdell Academy for Excellence (SAFE), an award winning commercial compliance and training initiative have come within my jurisdiction.
