Mr STACEY COLLINS
CMIOSH PIEMA
Overview
My career experiences span 29 years in health, safety and environmental management. They have been positive ones because of a simple attitude I developed towards the things my employer wants to do: Yes, we can do that.
- inspect a workplace and report findings with opportunites for improvements and cost savings throughout
- write a policy or a whole management system
- produce a gap analysis so you can get to your next level
- deliver health and safety training including NEBOSH, IOSH and IEMA as well as bespoke topivs : work at height, DSE, COSHH, asbestos, legionella, manual handling, machienry safety
- investigate accidents, incidents and ill health and act as a witness or help defend bogus claims
- assess risk, plan works, write RAMS to satisfy the most demanding clients
- act as the clients representative for CDM
There are caveats. It may not be cheap (although it should always be value for money, we aim to beat any quote we hear or help you find someone else who can meet your terms). It may take a while. It may be a lot of hard work. But none of these things are off putting to commercial people. If you can understand risk in business, you can understand it in health, wellbeing, safety, sustainability, energy, construction, design, you name it. The principle is always the same. We love working with people who want to appreciate risk better.

Head of Environment, Health and Safety at International Workplace | 02.2017 - 07.2018 | I was appointed head of department for a highly respected training and consultancy firm, International Workplace. I was involved in developing their portfolio of services as well as being a full tieme trainer, consultant and the quality lead. |
Health, Safety and Environment Manager at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP | 07.2002 - 02.2017 | Role and achievements Advising the firm on health, safety and environment. There are 2,500 lawyers and support on our London estate of half a million square feet of prestige offices. That is half of the total global headcount for a law firm turning over £1.4bn pa, with over 100% annual churn – so a very busy place. In my time I have almost done everything I think: workstation and DDA assessments for a hugely diverse office population, monitoring noise in sensitive locations, managing three cooling towers for legionella and doing water quality analysis for a sprinkler pipe replacement programme, craning in chillers over roofs on busy streets, measuring slip coefficients on York stone paving. I have dealt with from a £24m 18-month refit that had to be completed by the opening ceremony of the Olympic games (it was delivered with zero accidents, on time and under budget by a great team). I devised a way to do a trapeze from a window cleaning cradle and bmx displays and volleyball on an atrium floor. I’ve carried out fire risk assessments, drills, trained marshals, run BCP plans, managed sprinklers and replaced panels. I’ve helped the firm choose LED lighting and replacement chillers and other energy saving initiatives that cut millions of kilowatt-hours off of our consumption. I am most proud of developing management systems for H&S and environment successfully certified to OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 management standards by LRQA. In such a fast moving place that is ironically quite policy averse, we have put the firm on a sound footing to go forward and improve safety and sustainability performance. I have also organised energy audits to Article 8, carried out carbon footprints and sustainability measurements. In fact as a Founder member of Legal Sustainability Alliance. A colleague and I created the first database by which law firm sustainability could be measured. I recently achieved a BIFM Level 5 Award developing my understanding of FM and have developed ways to help the FM functions achieve their goals of cutting cost and waste. I helped the firm achieve an award for recycling partnerships with the first successful closed loop for white office paper. |
