Managing the strategic and operational elements of safety, health and environment for a North West construction firm specialising in complex refurbishment projects in the commercial, educational, manufacturing industries and heritage sites.

Developed and implemented an integrated management system to the latest international Environment and Quality Management Systems to the latest standards and in line with the latest Safety and Health Management system.

Developed and implemented an internal audit schedule for assurance of sites, supply chain and internal systems.

Developed and implemented a communication strategy for safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) matters. Determined and implemented an occupational health provision and surveillance programme.

Brought simplification and consistency to company SHEQ documentation and the management of documentation on site. Introduced and managed CLOCS champion status.

Managed fleet performance including environmental reporting. Analysed and created a simplified training management system to ensure mandatory training requirements are met.

Developed and let an initiative on mental wellbeing including getting Board buy in to commit to Time to Change.

Developed an environmental strategy which led to a reduction in single use plastics amonst the workforce and100% diversion of waste from landfill for 5 months and continuing.

Operating and leading a national SHE Team. I devised a health and safety culture programme to improve culture within the organisation which resulted in an increase in the three years since its delivery each year.

Helped devise waste management improvements which has seen waste diversion in landfill increase to 98%.

Attained full integration of certified Health and Safety, Environment and Quality Management systems to the latest standard versions. Developed and implemented an internal audit schedule for assurance of sites, employees, offices and internal systems.

National Social Housing orgnisation

Helped devise a training programme of H&S courses (High 5) for estate and grounds maintenance employees to fulfil their duties safely.

Helped introduce an online health and safety management system to support accident and incident reporting and investigation and proactive monitoring of contractors.

Helped devise a health and safety manual for use by the estates and ground maintenance employees which included task cards, risk assessments and training record completions. Helped devise an accident/incident investigation document for managers to complete to help identify root causes and lessons to be learned.

Devised a training package for manual handling tailorable to the waste management and grounds maintenance divisions. Established a vibration and noise assessment and monitoring programme for all vehicle maintenance and grounds maintenance teams. This included becoming a competent person in human vibration.
