Fire
Fire Risk Assessment
Almost all those with control of non-domestic premises including employers, building owners or occupiers have a legal duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment and keep it up to date. In most cases this will need to be documented.
The Assessment should consider:
emergency exits and safe routes, fire detection and warning systems
fire fighting equipment, the control and safe storage of dangerous substances, an emergency evacuation plan, the needs of vulnerable people, for example the elderly, young children or those with disabilities, provision of information to staff and other people on the premises, employee fire safety training
A serious fire on your premises can be a significant risk to your businesses. With the potential to kill or seriously injure employees or visitors and damage or destroy buildings, equipment and stock.
Business operating from single premises are very vulnerable as loss of premises may completely disrupt their operations. A high proportion of business fail to continue trading following a severe fire.
Fire risk is increased where the business:
holds large inventories of combustible materials including flammable liquids or gases, uses heating processes such as gas cutting and welding
have people working alone in parts of a building, does not maintain equipment or electrical circuits, has frequent public access (i.e. risk from arson), have failing housekeeping standards
North Durham Safety Limited completes Fire Risk Assessment on customers behalf and prepares relevant fire planning in order to support you to manage fire risk to an acceptable level within your organisation.
On completion of the fire risk assessment a documented report will be provided summarising the findings, overall risk and where applicable areas for improvement. And we go beyond the report where neccessary to support your business to implement any measures as required.
If your not sure if you comply or how to comply why not get in touch. Any discussions are held in the strictest of confidence.
