As Director of AMW Health & Safety Services Ltd , formally AMW Associates 1999 2003, I offer a broad spectrum of health and safety services, i.e. asbestos surveying and awareness training, health and safety policy development, risk assessments, inspections, auditing in addition to health, safety and RPE Face Fit Testing and other H&S related services. To maintain currency in the field of health and safety I attend both the South Coast Branch of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) and the Hampshire Health, Safety and Environment Group (HHSEG). I continue with my personal development and make a significant contribution to promoting good health, safety and environmental practice by driving the company forward and working with associates to provide an expanded range of services. In 2009 the company was awarded the Buy With Confidence Accreditation by Hampshire County Council Trading Standards. I am people focused and approach H&S in a practicable and sensible manner.

Services
Audits
I have carried out workplace audits since my first involvement in health and safety which was in 1974 while working for an international manufacturing company. As an health and safety consultant I have been involved in auditing many different sectors and activities from the armed forces through to the one man painter and decorator.
Construction Work
My first involvement in construction started when I was a Facilities Administrator for a blue chip company 32 years ago, my role was to source contractors and monitor projects and ensure health and safety compliance. When setting up as a consultant my scope broadened to small builds and has expanded to major builds of 200+ carrying out site inspections and compliance with associated construction and workplace regulations.
General consultancy
Having a broad mind, attended many training courses and picked up many personal skills in identifying and advising on hazard elimination and risk control. I can adjust to most working environments advising on health and safety matters and issues. As a professional I will not act or operate beyond my skill, knowledge and/or comfort zone, so if I were to ever be faced with an issue that was beyond my capability I would advise the client. As a backup, on specialist issues, I am able to bring in other colleague’s, specialist consultants, to deal with most situations if so required.
Residential Care Homes
Having a disabled child has lead me into the care sector and given me a greater understanding of care requirements. This said I would treat be focusing on the communal work places and not the care aspects as I feel this is not a specialism of mine. Aspects covered would be on the management and facilities for staff, workplace health, safety and welfare in addition to fire risk assessments. This service also applied to sheltered accommodation sectors.
