Working as a health and safety consultant supporting clients across a range of sectors including- care, education, construction, manufacturing, engineering, retail, and logistics. I provide high quality and proportionate advice and guidance across all manner of health and safety subjects. My current duties include:  

• Creating content for clients: including toolbox talks, safety presentations, and guides for safety-critical equipment. Utilising best practice documents, ACOPS, etc to develop client documentation that presents health and safety requirements in a manner that is easy to understand and implement in the workplace.  

• Adviceline: Providing quality advice to clients calling the health and safety adviceline- providing advice that is tailored to the needs of the client whilst remaining in line with legislation and supporting ACOPs and guidance.  

• Site Inspections: Carrying out health and safety inspections across the client portfolio. Scrutinizing key documents to ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as LOLER, Fire Risk Assessments, and Gas and Electrical Items. Carrying out walkarounds of premises to identify gaps in compliance and deficiencies in the management of health and safety and providing subsequent advice and support on how to best achieve compliance.  

• Creation of health and safety policies and handbooks: As part of an integrated health and safety management system: Working with a client to identify their organisational arrangements and allocation of health and safety responsibilities as part of their Plan Do Check Act management system. Providing ongoing support to ensure they can implement their management system effectively.  

• Provided on-site consultancy service to clients, supporting them with risk assessment creation, COSHH assessments, leading with consultation with employees, and delivering training.  

• Evaluating the existing health and safety management performance of organisations and recommending improvements including the implementation of a complete robust management system based on the fundamentals of the Plan Do Check Act. This includes supporting the client in its successful implementation within the organisation.  

• Production of accurate high quality client documentation on a range of health and safety topics and this includes toolbox talks, fact sheets, and workplace guides on topics such as abrasive wheels, metal working fluids, PUWER, and machine guarding.  

• Involved in a large-scale project within the organisation on critically evaluating the existing health and safety structure of a smaller subsidiary business acquisition to ensure it would be aligned with the larger group management system. This included a complete re-writing of policies and handbooks as well as reviewing all health and safety documentation and recommending improvements. This also involved supporting the client to implement these changes to ensure they then were aligned with the group company.

Maintain quality management systems in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards, focusing on health, safety and environment.  Engage with senior management to educate on continuous process improvement and compliance.  Conduct in-depth risk assessments on dynamic activity, COSHH, equipment, fire solutions and ergonomic elements.  Coordinate bespoke risk assessments for asbestos, dangerous substances & explosive atmosphere regulations, noise and vibration activities. Lead internal and external quality audits to recognise and address issues affecting regulatory compliance.  Process quality data and analyse information via SAP system to re-engineer processes, implement policies and establish robust safety management procedures. 

• Implemented ISO 14001 standards to improve efficiency of environmental management systems. 

• Embedded ISO 45001 international standards for occupational health & safety (OH&S) control. 

• Guaranteed cross-organisation compliance with industry health, safety and environmental laws. 

• Introduced lean methods & processes to maximise customer value while minimizing waste levels. 

• Presented data on new processes, procedures and statistics to CEO and senior management. 

Spearheaded external quality audits for British Standard health & safety management system required in the chemical analysis of process treatment tanks.  Reviewed data via SAP system for quality compliance, standardised personal protective equipment, policies and procedures enterprise-wide. 

• Implemented new OHSAS 18001 international standards for occupational health & safety management. 

• Facilitated comprehensive training for face fit testing of respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE). 

• Educated staff on noise awareness, COSHH and manual handling techniques via daily toolbox talks.
