Overview
I am currently employed as Health, Safety & Environment Advisor working in construction installing new plant, refurbishment and asset care projects on a Nuclear Licensed site in North West England.
Other nuclear sites I have attended include Hunterston in Scotland, Trawsfynydd in North Wales and Bradwell in South East England.
I also oversaw the outfit work on nuclear submarines at BAE shipyards in Barrow.
I am accountable for ensuring that all site construction (civil, E&I, mechanical) activities comply with legal and site safety requirements and industry best practice, reinforcing a positive health and safety culture and achieving agreed H,S&E performance targets.
I have been responsible for the development and implementation of effective health & safety and environmental management systems in line with recognised standards (OHSAS 18001 & BSEN ISO 14001) and aligning with established quality management system.
I regularly have to interface with the client teams, regulatory bodies and other contractors.
Carrying out audits and inspections are also one of my roles.
I am also responsible for the production and delivery of training courses eg. Confined space working, abrasive wheels, manual handling, pressure testing etc.
I have also been responsible for the successful planning and execution of a portfolio of several facility management projects.
My HS&E role expanded to include the management of the quality department.
Responsible for ensuring that the product and service we provides are fit for purpose, consistent and meets both external and internal requirements in accordance with expectations of quality, delivery and budget through the continual improvement process.
I have over 35 years experience in the construction, chemical, nuclear, oil and gas (marine) industries, 25 of which have been in safety related roles and I have attained Chartered membership of IOSH.
I hold membership status of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and the Institute of Leadership and Management.
I have also completed P2 and hold a diploma in project management.
