Inadequately completed accident investigations can leave your business exposed to costly litigation. Accidents and ill health at work can cost money and ruin lives. Good health and safety is good business – and it is the law.

 

Getting hurt at work or becoming ill through work is not a pleasant subject to think about. The reality is that over 200 people a year lose their lives at work in Britain. In addition, around 150 000 non-fatal injuries are reported each year, and an estimated 2 million people suffer from ill health caused or made worse by work.

 

The mistake is to believe that these things happen in highly unusual or exceptional circumstances that never occur in your workplace. This is not the case.

 

Some basic thinking and acting beforehand could usually have prevented these things from happening. Implementing health and safety measures does not have to be expensive, time consuming or complicated.

Asbestos surveys

If you occupy a building for the purpose of just using it as an office then this is the survey for you. Management surveys will look at building materials that occupiers are likely to come into contact with. A good management survey will also take into account light maintenance tasks that will need to be undertaken. A management survey will also list where asbestos is present and assign priority assessments so that materials can be prioritised. The findings from this survey will go into a long term management strategy.

 

This survey will not look too hard into the building fabric. If you are undertaking a refurbishment project at a later date this survey will not be enough, you will need to undertake a refurbishment survey (Only of the area you wish to refurbish) when the time comes.

Our consultants will produce a report identifying best practices conducted on site as well as areas for improvement. A benchmarking score can then be allocated to reflect the health and safety performance level of the site against company and legislative requirements. The audit and review process assists clients in examining and improving risk management procedures and can help reduce insurance premiums. Inspections are tailored to your company’s specific requirements which are discussed in advance with our consultants.
