In my capacity as a Human Factors Specialist/ Senior Executive Officer with a focus on health and safety, as well as human factors at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)/ Public Health England (PHE), I assume a role of strategic leadership and guidance across diverse departments. The scope of my responsibilities encompasses various facets:

Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and technical advice to ensure site teams are kept abreast of duties and developing trends and assist them to innovate and improve their overall safety performance.
• Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the HSSEQ framework.
• Support teams in a behavioural-based leadership approach to the management of health and safety.
• Act as a role model and mentor at all times in support of the company’s vision, priorities and values.
• Lead the oversight of regular inspection programs, incident investigations, and audits, ensuring the diligent implementation of corrective actions.
• Contributing significantly to the development of health and safety standards and systems, aligning these initiatives with the overarching policies and procedures of PHE/UKHSA.
• Effective Data Management: meticulously manage data entry on the Trackwise Integrated Governance Information (IGI) system, ensuring the quality of health and safety reports and facilitating in-depth root cause analysis.
• Train, coach, challenge, and support staff to achieve the necessary level of competence and capability to identify and manage risks and achieve continuous improvement in performance and support operational staff to take HSSEQ accountability.
• Take charge of coordinating and delivering health and safety training for EQA activities and the Standards Unit, ensuring its seamless and effective implementation.
• Chairing H&S Meetings: As the chair of health and safety meetings, ensure the proper and timely implementation of actions that impact the department.
• Implementation of Safety Measures: drive the implementation of site guidelines, risk assessments, risk registers, and proactive/reactive monitoring to enhance safety protocols.
• Safety Standards Adherence: Ensuring adherence to safety standards, I guarantee that all existing and new equipment and workspaces meet the prescribed safety standards.
• Emergency Response Coordination: develop and coordinate emergency response procedures, safety induction, hazardous exposure control, and facilitate staff referrals to Occupational Health.
• Proactive Stakeholder Engagement: maintain proactive interactions with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that pertinent findings and actions are seamlessly cascaded and implemented.
• Collaborative Policy Development: Collaborating closely with the Corporate Health and Safety team, I actively contribute to the development of new guidelines, standards, and standard operating procedures.

• Pioneering Human Factors Initiatives: I have provided influential leadership in the successful implementation of human factors projects across various departments.
• Hierarchical Task Analysis: Conducting in-depth hierarchical task analysis, I scrutinize UKHSA processes within laboratory and office areas.
• Identification of Performance Influencing Factors: I identify key Performance Influencing Factors for various processes, conducting comprehensive human factor assessments for high-risk tasks.
• Safety-Critical Task Controls: Providing essential controls for safety-critical tasks, I ensure their meticulous integration within risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
• Methodical Incident Investigations: Applying advanced human factor assessment methodologies, I lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and formulating strategic recommendations for process enhancement.
• Ergonomic Risk Analysis: Conducting a thorough analysis of ergonomic risks associated with processes or equipment, I consider factors such as arm movements, repetition, force, posture, and psychological elements.
• Integration of Advanced Tools: I have successfully implemented the use of the Human Factors Risk Manager/SHERPA software across the organization, enhancing the analysis of human factors in all work processes.
• My role is characterized by comprehensive oversight, reflecting a proactive approach to health and safety, and a commitment to seamlessly integrating human factors principles for an elevated level of workplace safety.

• I developed and delivered IOSH and NEBOSH health and safety certification courses for Coventry University students as part of their industry certification.
• I incorporated subjects such as human factors, process safety, systems thinking and accident modelling into the IOSH curriculum for the university.
• I led on the university’s industry certification with IOSH which helped the university attain record number of student admissions into courses that offered these certifications. 

• I developed the Health and Safety Management module curriculum with the inclusion of human factors and process safety management.
• I also developed and delivered lecture sessions on various aspects of health & safety across a wide range of courses in the university to both BSc, MSc, and MBA students.
• I organised tutorials on academic writing and supervised their dissertation projects; providing pastoral support for students who needed additional guidance with coursework assignments.

• I led on a research project to develop a Human Factors Analysis and Classification
System for the Oil and Gas Industry (HFACS-OGI) which was integrated to design a
process safety management system for the industry.
• I was awarded a scholarship to undertake a PhD in Human Factors in the oil and gas industry where I developed an integrated process safety management and climate change model for the oil and gas industry which was centered around human factors. 

• I coordinated daily safety inspections, compliance checks, safety meetings and led on incident investigation procedures.
• I conducted emergency response planning, waste disposal and review of HSE legislations.
• I set up health and safety training sessions and routine maintenance operations, whilst completing risk assessments, safety reports, and fire safety drills for the organization.
