A seasoned Director with a careers worth of experience spanning health and safety, training and development, business development and 22 years military service (12 with the TA). Don brings a high impact, results orientated approach to operational excellence. An engaging influencer accustomed to operating within complex, multi layered organisations, skillfully managing relationships across all stakeholder groups, owning corporate governance issues whilst always recognising existing organisational frameworks. Builds trust and confidence through robust working relationships and a flexible and outcome focused attitude to change. Development and growth of people, together with formal and informal lifelong learning plans, have been a central part of successful delivery of strategies and visions. Don was the 2016 winner of the Maurice Adamson Award for services to Safety Groups UK.
EXPERIENCE:
10 years as a BDM within the Engineering Industry (EBARA Pumps Ltd) dealing with Pumps/Valves/Fans/Chillers/AC equipment and controlling installation teams.
10 Years engaged in Engineering and Facilities Management installing large Plant and controlling projects working as consecutively as a Contract Manager/H&S Advisor. (largest Project: £2M refit of cooling pumps to Dungeness B Power Nuclear Power Plant) & H&S Advisor.
3 Years with Kent Police as a Senior Shift Manager and Risk Manager/H&S Advisor to 500 staff.
30 years as a full time Health and Safety professional within the Construction/Facilities industry holding 2 Senior Management Posts and responsible for staff/P&L and budgets.
Don is currently Chair of the Facilities Management H&S Committee run by Hays Recruitment and has held that post for 7 years.
An active committee member of IOSH South East Branch and apppointed Branch Mentor for members requiring CPD and IPD assistance.
