Overview
Chartered Fellow of IOSH and previously a Process Safety Specialist for HSE - providing specialist advice on storage, handling, use of flammable solids, liquids, gases. After leaving the HSE I was invited to take up the position of Senior UK Risk Manager for International Distillers and Vintners Operations (now Diageo). During this period I was Chair Person for the Scotch Whisky Association Health & Safety Committee, the Whisky Industry's health & safety body - met quarterly with the HSE to discuss industry health & safety issues. In 1996 honoured for my work within the Whisky Industry - awarded UK Safety Professional of the Year & Food & Drink Industry Safety Professional of the year. Reflected my work in developing H&S training for the Whisky Industry. From 1997 to 2021 I ran Phoenix Safety Services Ltd - health & safety training and consultancy. Specialist Confined Space trainers; IOSH Courses; NEBOSH Courses, Safety Management; Risk Assessment; Competent Safety Advisers. I chose to move on from Phoenix Safety Services Ltd in July 2021 and I set up an independent company, Phoenix Safety Scotland Ltd offering the same range of services but to a predominantly local Scottish range of clientle. This venture has been an excelent success.
