During the tenure (1996) I was recognised for my efforts towards improving heath and safety in the whisky drinks industry by being awarded both the UK Food & Drink Safety Professional of the year and the Overall UK Health & Safety Professional of the Year.

I was a joint owner and Managing Director of two Health and Safety Training, Equipment Hire and Consultancy businesses: Phoenix Safety Services Ltd (training and consultancy) and Phoenix Hire Safety Services Ltd (Confined Space Equipment Hire).

I was hands on in the training and consultancy business, where we provided a broad range of health training such as Confined Space; NEBOSH; IOSH Directing, Managing and Working Safely.

I decided in 2021 to step back and away from my companies which I had owned and run for 25 years.

I now have started a new health & safety training and consultancy buisiness serving a range of local small Scottish businesses providing support and guidance.
