Overview
I am an Occupational Ergonomics and Human Factors Consultant based in Guildford, Surrey. My background is 15+ years as a Specialist HSE Inspector and Ergonomist in Health & Safety Executive and Health and Safety Laboratory. Since 2015 I now work as an independent consultant (Guildford Ergonomics Ltd.) providing ergonomics and risk assessment support for a wide range of clients and industry sectors.
Qualifications include: BSc Psychology (University of Southampton), MSc(Eng.) Work Design & Ergonomics (University of Birmingham) and I am a Chartered Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CErgHF).
My consultancy Guildford Ergonomics Ltd is formally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.

I also carry out Human Reliability assessment work (behavioural risk assessment) in the SME sector as well as for larger organisations: Addressing Unsafe Acts - Behavioural risk assessment and Task Analysis - I examine the foreseeability of unsafe acts and risk taking behaviours throughout all work activities and/ or where non-employee behaviours interact with work undertakings. My behavioural risk assessments focus on Performance Influencing Factors - antecedents and consequences of behaviours and ways to optimise them - reducing the risk of unsafe acts. I apply task analysis methods applied as fits the needs of client - e.g. Hierarchical Task Analysis, Link Analysis.
I review procedures, training and guidance - identifying safety critical elements and the associated behavioural risks. i have a specific interest in applying behavioural risk assessment methods in SMEs where exposure of businesses success to unsafe acts is particularly critical.
I work with a range of associates including fellow ergonomists and human factors consultants, physiotherapists, occupational health professionals and health and safety consultants. I also have Level 3 City & Guilds in Education and Training.
