Mr Iain Munro
Overview
I am a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner and a Chartered Engineer currently operating as a self-employed HSE consultant. My background is in the mining industry where I worked for 33 years in various operational roles including 16 years as the head of HSE for the UK's largest surface mining operator. I have significant experience of managing a busy HSE department in a multi-site organisation and was responsible for the development a bespoke health and safety management system based on the principles of HSG65 and OHSAS 18001. I have also have internal auditor qualifications for ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 and I have significant experience of managing and conducting audits and preparing reports for senior management. I have strong written skills and the ability to develop policies, procedures and risk assessments to suit clients requirements. I have extensive experience of accident and incident investigation including fatal accidents and environmental pollution incidents. I have also given evidence at fatal accident inquiries and provided expert witness evidence in Scottish courts. I have experience of behavioural safety and I believe that leadership coupled with worker involvement is essential to improve heath and safety performance of any business. I have a genuine passion for improving health and safety in the workplace and I believe that all accidents and incidents are preventable. I believe that good safety is good business and that effective HSE management systems can play a significant role in helping businesses to succeed. I am interested in working with any client who is seeking to improve the health and safety performance of their business.
