To manage the provision of Safety, health and Environmental in 6 factories in the Northern England. Factories produced treated metal works for clients in the Aerospace industry, Oil and Gas, MOD, medical parts, and engine parts. My main role was to implement a change to the current safety management system and safety culture within the company.

·       Designed and implemented division safety management system

·       Organised and standardised all training within the company

·       Designed and run a safety culture survey to bench mark the company’s current safety performance

·       Implemented strategies around Manual Handling, Wellbeing, CoSHH, and PUWER

·       Designed and implement Occupational health standards, including well person clinics and stress awareness

·       Implemented a senior management safety strategy including safety days, management safety tours.

To manage the provision of Safety, health, Environmental, and Quality in a growing telecommunication company.

Main achievement.

·       Established and developed ISO 27001 for IT security management,

·       Established and developed ISO 45001 for upcoming BSI audit,

·       Redesign the safety management system including designing new procedures and process for all medium to high-risk activities,

·       Establish and launch a health and safety electronic management system,

·       Design and established training matrix and companywide training plan,

·       Implementation of ISO 9001 and 14001 for the business,

·       Integrated all management systems into a standalone system.

·       Developed and establish a PPE procedure and introduced new suppliers and online catalogue.

Initial role was as a SHEQ Advisor, progressing to the SHEQ Manager for United Utilities, and then gaining promotion to Senior SHEQ Manager for the Water Network alliance. Responsible for the Managing the provision of health and safety, environment and quality for all street works, construction and pipe laying on the Welsh Water (DCWW) contract covering Wales. Other duties including managing the health and safety on the small growing United Utilities contract covering the North West of England.

Responsibilities included but not limited to:

·       Managing a team of SHEQ advisors and SHEQ technical supports on three different work streams and contracts

·       Compiling and Reporting all health and safety issues to the Contract Director and Leadership Board on the Water Network Alliance and Untied Utilities

·       Establishing all health and safety procedures on a new contract

·       Establishing new procedure, generic risk assessment, team safety packs, all specific to the Water Network Alliance Contract,

·       Establishing a yearly calendar and implementing all aspect for a positive safety culture

·       Providing advice and support on all projects confirming all construction project work and Repair and maintenance are completed in line with current Construction (Design and Management) regulations 2015

·       Assisting in updating current CDM procedures for Morrison group

·       Ensuring all UK health and safety guidelines and regulations are always adhered to including HSAWA, COSHH, Confined Spaces and HAVS ensuring best practices, processes and procedures.

·       Providing Health and safety support on the Repair and Maintenance(R&M) contract for clean and wastewater work stream.

·       Involved in M group environmental policies including the introduction of a new testing scheme for excavated materials

Key Achievement

·       Managing the new competence assurance scheme, including running the water network NVQ scheme

·       Involved in updating Morrison group procedures, generic Risk Assessment, Method Statement and COSHH assessments

·       Establishing the health, safety, Environment and Quality on two contracts for United Utilities and Water Network Alliance

·       Since starting with Morrison, the health and safety culture has improved, and incident rate has reduced by 50%.  

Responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety on board the vessel and land sites working with verious cleints internationaly and working alongside construction clients. Responsibilities included:

• Designed, developed and conducted all occupational health and training campaigns on the vessel; implementing processes and procedures which have since been rolled out across the company.
• Appointed Permit Coordinator for the company; reviewed all permits and supported documentation as well as completing weekly audits on permit to work system ensuring complete governance compliance.
• Ensuring all staff members meet required training and qualification standards and adhere to industry changes and training requirements.
• Providing comprehensive safety inductions and training on company safety management systems to contractor staffing and all third parties on board the vessel.
• Assessing and monitoring all potential health and safety risks and hazards on board the vessel; reporting and make recommendations to senior management on potential solutions where applicable.
• Ensuring all staff members adhered to all health and safety legislations at all times; heightened awareness and health and safety consciousness to maintain compliance and safe working practices.
• Leading detailed investigations into any accidents and incidents occurred in line with regulated health and safety standards and maintaining accurate records

Key Achievements

• Since appointment, I have effectively enhanced health and safety awareness across the business, reducing incident rates by over 50% from previous years figures.

Heavily involved in the development and implementation of high-level changes to the Permit to Work System which supported with installing ownership and accountability to staff in setting their own task risk assessments.
