• Dosimetry Management: Oversaw the management of dosimetry across the University, ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting.
• External Radiation Contracts Management: Managed and coordinated external radiation contracts, including Radiation Protection Advisors (RPA), waste management, and dosimetry services.
• Radioactive Waste Disposal: Managed and oversaw the disposal of all radioactive waste generated by the University.
• Risk Assessment and Project Involvement: Participated in risk assessments for all new radiation projects to ensure safety and compliance.  Involved in the design and hazard analysis (HAZOP) of new facilities involving radiation.

• Equipment Calibration: Managed the annual calibration of radiation monitoring equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Incident and Emergency Response: Involved in the investigation of radiation incidents and contributed to radiation-related emergency response and business continuity planning.

Radiation Protection Responsibilities:

• Radiation Protection Supervision: Served as Radiation Protection Supervisor for a large University Science department, managing compliance with licenses for radioactive material and waste disposal.
• Safety Advice and Guidance: Acted as the primary contact for radiation users, providing expert safety advice and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and local rules.
• Regulatory Compliance: Maintained accurate records of radioactive stock and waste, conducted regular audits, and coordinated waste disposal with Safety Services.
• Incident Management: Investigated radiation-related incidents, conducted audits and inspections, and implemented recommendations from external inspectors.
• Training and Support: Ensured all support staff were trained in handling radioactive materials, authorized new orders, and provided ongoing supervision for radiation activities.

Safety Convener Responsibilities:

• Safety Inductions and Training: Conducted safety inductions for new staff and students, organized safety training, and provided general safety advice within the institute.
• Safety Inspections and Audits: Carried out laboratory and office safety inspections, investigated accidents, and contributed to the Institute Safety Committee.
