Overview
Mark has been a Health, Safety and Fire Safety Consultant since 2015 working for several large national and international consultancy’s and has gained a vast amount of experience working within the private and public sector. Prior to working within consultancy Mark gained several years’ experience managing health, safety and fire for several global companies predominately within high risk manufacturing and the R&D sector. Mark has completed several accredited courses that have included a Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering and Design, NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and multiple IFE approved qualifications in fire risk assessment ensuring his continued professional development. Mark has demonstrated competency and has gained several professional accreditations that include being a Chartered Safety and Health Professional (CMIOSH), a member of the Engineering Council (EngTech), a full member of The Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE) and is a Registered Assessor on The Institution of Fire Engineers Fire Risk Assessors Register.
Mark has been working within the health, safety and fire industry for more than 15 years and has a wealth of experience within several industries that have included research and development, leisure, high risk manufacturing, logistics, educational establishments and the commercial and public property market sector.
He is competent to undertake a variety of health and safety assessments, audits and fire risk assessment that include Type 1 – Type 4 assessments. Mark is experienced in consultancy, providing pragmatic solutions and is able to provide fire engineered solutions, fire strategies and retrospective fire strategies on both commercial and residential buildings. He is able to apply his knowledge and experience to ensure clients meet their statutory requirements providing a safe environment whilst controlling their costs.

Metokote UK Ltd, UK Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, | 10.2014 - 03.2015 | Metokote UK Ltd is a part of the global group Metokote Corporation that operates 30 large factories across the world. The UK factory is a large and very busy production environment that specialise in the powder coating and electro-coating of parts for the automotive industry. As the UK EHS Manager I was responsible for the health and safety management of the high risk work processes and activities and the management of a Part B environmental installation. I used my experience and understanding of manufacturing environments to implement a strategic and realistic action plan that would create a positive health and safety culture. I was proactive in engaging with the management teams and employees to get a clear understanding of the issues the organisation had and then facilitated a health and safety group so all parties were involved in creating a solution. SATRA Technology Centre, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager | 07.2012 - 10.2014 | SATRA Technology is a world leading research and technology centre that provides a variety of services that include laboratory testing, research and auditing to global manufacturers and retailers within the UK and overseas. The company has various departments that include large office environments, testing rooms and research laboratories, engineering and manufacturing workshops. As the HSE Manager, I was responsible for the management of the health, safety and environment within the multi site organisation. I reported directly to the Chief Executive and was responsible for advising the Executive Board on all health, safety and environmental matters. My role was diverse managing the risk from various work place activities that include the use of hazardous substances, DSEAR, the use of heavy plant and machinery, work place transport, working at height, CDM and the management of contractors. During my employment I implemented a health and safety management system that improved the health and safety culture throughout the company whilst raising the awareness and ownership by the employees. In my time, the number of accidents and loss time injuries has reduced improving employee morale and productivity. I developed and improved the health and safety management and controls at all levels within the company and as a consequence the company now benefits from an improved legal compliance.

The Oakleaf Group - Principal Fire Safety Consultant | 02.2019 - 05.2021 | As a Principal Fire Safety Consultant I am responsible for the management of a team of fire safety consultants that includes assisting them in the management of their workload, validating their reports and supporting them throughout any projects they are assigned to. In addition, my role as a Principal Fire Safety Consultant requires me to project manage and liaise with clients to ensure the effective delivery of the any projects that the Oakleaf Group have been assigned. I have successfully managed a project that included the delivery of more than 900 fire risk assessments and h&s audits per year on luxury apartment blocks for a large property management company. I am also responsible for delivering a variety of services to my clients that include the review of existing fire strategies for their suitability and where applicable the drafting of new fire strategies for both simple and complex buildings.
