Overview
As an Executive Director, Management Consultant and Executive Coach, Michael has over 25 years expertise in group dynamics and teams, leadership and empowerment, organisational growth and transformation. Contexts include business strategy and development; rapid growth of teams and portfolios, HSSE management, project development and execution to IFC/EBRD standards; governance, sustainability and corporate reporting; asset management, assurance and due diligence; corporate and social responsibility, green buildings and renewables. Michael is multi-cultural, having worked for several years in each of Southern Africa, the UK and the Middle East. He currently operates out of Dubai, UAE covering, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Israel, Morocco, East Africa, South East Asia plus has an office in London, England.
Trained as a Mechanical Engineer and having worked within corporate, consultancy and NGO roles, Michael has since been awarded Professional Engineering and OHS status plus Fellow and Chartered Environmentalist. He is a certified Executive Coach and is currently finishing a Doctorate of Business Administration degree. He has a proven track record of developing and scaling teams to match aggressive expansion and project targets.
By integrating technical and social competencies, he implements practical cost-effective people-centric solutions. In 2007, Michael was the runner up Strategy Consultant of the year organised by the UK's Management Consulting Association. In short, Michael is a Professional Generalist with a suite of management and technical experience that enables him to coach and lead teams of technical and content specialists to deliver business goals and growth.

ACWA Power - Executive Director: HSSE and Sustainability | 09.2009 - 06.2017 | ACWA Power is the largest independent developer, manager, owner of desalination & power generation assets in MENA region. Roles and responsibilities: The Executive Director – CR&S and HSSE had a wide remit of conceiving, leading, budget control and delivery of ACWA Power’s vision to be a demonstrably sustainable and responsible organisation. The role included Group responsibility for HSE & Social issues. It grew from 6 assets + 2 regional offices in ‘09 to more than 34 assets in operation, construction or development, serviced by 8 regional offices spread over 11 countries. The SGM-SSHE role had Group responsibility for the development and implementation of the SSHE strategy and programme. Reported to the Management Board on SSHE performance. Roles and responsibilities: · Leadership, conceptualisation, development, roll-out and monitoring of Corporate CSR & SSHE strategy for entire organisation delivering improvements in behaviour, management and performance · Team and operational management of more than 50 Sustainability, CSR, Safety, Health and Environmental (SSHE) professionals delivering services throughout the Group. · Accountable for divisional budget of >US$5M including financial control and contractual negotiations. · Official company spokesman with specialities in CSR, sustainability, climate change management and HSE.
