Overview
My Corporate Role at Collett & Sons Ltd., is the Compliance Director, covering all Quality, Environmental, HR, Training and Health and Safety issues relevant to the four depots at Halifax head office, Goole port facility, our Grangemouth port facility and Dublin branch of this international specialist transportation company, which undertakes: Multi modal Transportation Company. Transport, Shipping, Air, Rail. Multi-disciplined in delivery of Project cargo and Out Of Gauge freight. Specialist carrier for Wind Turbine Generators and Power Generation industry. Leading a small team of 3 professionals, this involves assistance with the operations teams in putting in safe systems of work, site inspections / audits, attending health and safety meetings, ensure compliance with company policy and with current legal legislation. Having obtained a certified BS EN ISO 14001:2004 & BS OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation for the companies management systems at Collett's within 6 months of starting with them, I am also responsible for maintaining the certifications for all three standards going forward. One of our succesfull targets was to instigate the updating of our current management systems into a new integrated management system, to align with the new ISO 9001 & 14001 standards released in 2015 and I have now incorporated the new 45001 into the intergrated system, also having intergrated a 27001 system into the management system.
We have received accreditation with a number of SSIP's bodies whilst I have been at Collett's such as UVDB Achilles, Safe Contractor, to name but a few, it is my responsibility to maintain these going forward, as well as maintaining our FORS Accreditation. Having also undertaking the set up of the companies training facility, which is now accredited to undertake numerous courses with associations such as Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance, ALLMI, ITSAR, JAUPT (for driver CPC). These courses are now being run out throughout our entire workforce, which we believe with help to achieve our targets and objectives by producing a better understanding of Risk, and having a higher qualified level of personal throughout the company.
Having been instrumental in our development and implimentation of the Escort Drivers Qualifications at Level 2 & 3 through the City & Guilds Assured as well as rolling out the training throughout the company and to external bodies. I was also a key member of the development team in producing and implimenting the safe urban driving course, getting approval from JAUPT for delivery commercially.
Personal Profile: I am able to work with colleagues displaying a pragmatic constructive approach, while ensuring SHEQ legislation is complied with, I work effectively to influence colleagues to recognise their responsibilities. Competent to provide practical and common sense based SHEQ solutions to achieve results and meet the needs of the business. A team player with the ability to motivate and communicate in order to achieve excellent SHEQ performance. I try to make health and safety easily understood so that everyone can contribute to looking after themselves, having no time for silly safety and believe in better business through practical risk management, proportionate risk control and competent people. Chartered Member of IOSH, Fellow of IIRSM, holder of C&G Licentiateship in Occupational Health and Safety.
Chartered Member of The Institute of Logistics & Transport, also holding a current Department of Transport, DGSA Qualification Registered trainer with CIEH and Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance, a City & Guilds trainer in Manual Handling, JAUPT registered driver CPC trainer, EUSR National Water Hygiene trainer and Display screen Assessor. Holding the Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector award, Level 3 Assessors award, Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of the assessment process holder, CITB Site Managers Safety Certificate, full first aid at work certification, confined space trained in both management of and entry into, holder of IPAF Licence and IPAF MEWPS for Managers certificate.
Holding Associate membership of IEMA, C&G Licentiateship in Sustainable Manufacturing, IEMA Carbon Footprint Management course and trained in energy management. A Chartered Member of the CQI (Chartered Quality Institute) also holding the BSI Diploma in Quality Management.
I am also a qualified IRCA Lead Auditor in Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems to OHSAS 18001 as well as Environmental Management Systems to ISO14001 and Quality Management systems to ISO 9001. Having recently undertaken the new transitional IRCA Auditor training in the new standards 9001 & 14001 as well as the Annex SL training.
