Overview
Rob has over twenty five years’ experience in safety and assurance in the rail industry, both in the UK and Worldwide. Rob has a proven track record in safety management at senior level and a deep knowledge of UK/EU and international safety legislation and standards. He has well-established commercial skills and real-world experience of developing and managing relationships with high profile stakeholders.
As Compliance Director for Etihad Rail he led the development and implementation of the corporate rail safety certification, acceptance and assurance compliance regime. As part of this role, he sat on the GCC Mainline Project Committee for the development of Common Guidelines for Operational and Institutional Requirements and was a Member of the National Rail Committee for the development of Federal Rail Legislation for the UAE.
As HSQE Director for Serco Dubai Metro in the Middle East and Safety and Assurance Director for Serco Docklands, Rob led the development of HSQE policies, programmes and processes and was the lead safety interface with the ORR for regulatory permissioning for DLR London City Airport and Woolwich Arsenal extensions. Similarly, in the Middle East, Rob was lead safety interface with the Dubai Government Roads and Transport Authority to gain regulatory permission for the Dubai Metro Green Line operation.
Rob has extensive experience in risk management, with a number of projects with Interfleet Technology and Rail Link Engineering. Risk assessment was also a key part of his London Underground safety experience, where his railway career developed.
His career demonstrates the planning and execution of: HSQE and assurance strategies; Competence and business continuity management systems; Railway certification, acceptance and assurance regimes; Risk management strategy; Audit; Accident investigation; and HSQE trouble-shooting. Rob has also used this experience to support a number of significant railway bids.
