Author of industry standard texts on pool and beach lifeguard operation and management and on pre-hospital management of aquatic spinal cord injury, specialist in development of risk management, first aid programmes. 25 years experience in accident investigation as expert witness in civil and criminal cases and for HM Coroners. Chairman of CEN Safety Standards Committee from 1993 until 2016 and continue to work in the role of Principal UK Expert within the CEN structure. Specialist in swimming pool and pool diving accident investigation, leisure facility safety and in first aid provision and management. I have developed risk management, leisure safety management, first aid and fire safety management programmes for diverse organisations in the leisure and education sectors. I am also an Associate Consultant for Quality Leisure Management Ltd. I am a Graduate of the Institution of Fire Engineers and a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity.  Awarded British Empire Medal for services to swimming pool safety and to lifeguard development in 2020.
