Worked mostly as a frontline inspector, based in HSE's Birmingham offices, carrying out inspection, investigation of complaints and incidents, auditing of management systems, and enforcement work including investigation of fatal accidents, prosecutions and service of notices. Also worked on a Sector Group leading on steel stockholding issues and drafting new HSE guidance and leaflets.

Self-employed, via an agency, working for E.ON's Obligation Delivery Business. I was attached to E.ON's SHE Team conducting construction site inspections, audits, investigations, and advisory work. I took the lead in formulation new policies and supporting documentation for asbestos, HAVS, and work at height. I helped the business to prepare for audits. I took a lead role in interpreting the draft CDM 2015 regulations and in identifying the changes that the business needed to make to adapt to the new legal requirements.  Then revised and updated some of the relevant documents and policies, as well as updating toolbox talks, RAMS, operators handbooks, safety alerts and bulletins.
