My role was to carry out inspections of several sectors including manufacturing engineering premises, parcel distribution depots and motor vehicle repair centres, construction sites and education centres.  I investigated accidents and complaints and took enforcement action as and where necessary, including issuing enforcement notices (Prohibition and Improvement Notices) and taking prosecutions within the Magistrates Court. I also enforced the Gas Safety Regulations, which includes and involvement with Local Authorities, gas installers, landlords and tenants.

My role involves ensuring that new equipment and facilities within Jaguar and Land Rover are compliant with the Supply of machinery (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1994, and are ergonomically sound before they are installed into the facility.  

 Key achievements:

• Delivery of the new T5 facility, compliant with health and safety.  This facility involved two cars, the new L3 Discovery and the Range Rover Sport; both are built on the same platform. Ensuring that Body construction and Body assembly facilities were complaint with the essential health and safety requirements.
• Development and delivery of T5 health and safety strategy.
• Successful management of a team of safety professionals.
• Development and delivery of the Land Rover Health and Safety manual, incorporating policies and procedures.  This manual has now been amalgamated with the Jaguar manual to create a Premier Automotive Group manual, incorporating many of Ford Motor Companies policies and Procedures.
• Development and delivery of several core health and safety training packages.
• Development and delivery of Health and Safety strategy.
• Lecturing at the University of Birmingham on Health and safety subjects.
