Noise Survey / Risk Assessment
The aim of risk assessment is to help you decide what you need to do to ensure the health and safety of your employees who are exposed to noise. It is more than just taking measurements of noise - sometimes measurements may not even be necessary. We capture all the good work already in place into a recognised risk assessment format. If improvements are needed, we will support with the recommendations and an action plan to make sure they are implemented in a practical, easy-to-understand manner.
A noise survey is a systematic assessment of noise levels in a specific environment, aimed at identifying potential noise hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Conducting a noise survey is essential for maintaining a safe and healthy environment, particularly in workplaces where noise levels can be hazardous. By identifying noise problems and implementing appropriate control measures, organizations can protect their employees' hearing and overall well-being.
We can support with the initial assessment and survey of your premises or work activity (this list is not exhaustive):
- Identify Noise Problems: noise surveys help determine if there are hazardous noise levels in a workplace or environment, which can lead to hearing loss or other health issues
- Compliance with Regulations: legislation requires you to assess the risk. Noise surveys help to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, particularly when noise levels exceed certain thresholds
- Inform Control Measures: The results of a noise survey can inform the implementation of engineering controls, administrative changes, or personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce noise exposure
We will undertake:
- Preliminary Assessment: Conduct a walk-through survey to identify areas with potential noise issues. This initial assessment helps determine where detailed measurements are needed
- Noise Measurement: Use sound level meters and noise dosimeters to measure noise levels in specific areas or for individual workers. Measurements should be taken during typical working conditions to ensure accuracy
- Data Analysis: Compare the measured noise levels against relevant exposure limits and standards to evaluate the risk of hearing loss or other health effects.
- Reporting and Recommendations: Compile the findings into a report that outlines the noise levels, potential risks, and recommended actions to mitigate exposure
