Overview
Melissa is an accomplished Risk Management Professional and has a career spanning 25 years in health and safety and high risk industry. Melissa works with the British Standards Institute and International Standards Organisation as an independent expert on the HS/1 Occupational Health and Safety as their Leadership and Risk Management Expert.
She volunteers for the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and has received recognition from IIRSM over the years, most recently winning the 2025 President's Commendation Award. She has also been recognised as one of the top 100 Women in Construction for 2 years, winning Local Hero-North West in 2024 and was named one of the 40 under 40 in 2018 by IIRSM.
Experienced in designing, implementing and auditing effective safety management systems alongside holding an extensive track record of HSE success in in high risk industries such as construction, manufacturing and more. Melissa has an exceptional understanding and ability to apply both strategic and operational management, change management and integrating effective risk management within organisations.
She is passionate about leadership and psychological safety in the workplace - making workplaces a haven for collaboration between management and 'shop floor' employees to open up discussions and help drive improvement internally.
